FREELANCE RESUME
I realized as a playwright and screenwriter, I needed a day job. Bartending, waiting tables, and temping gets old. Advertising?
Too many copywriters with unfinished novels in bottom drawers. I stumbled into freelance Corporate Communications, and it was
a fit. Videos, newsletter copy, speeches, white papers, speeches, live events, website copy, and commercials for everything
from pharmaceuticals to financial services, nonprofits to luxury goods, automotive to technology.
Long-term clients include City National Bank, Qualcomm, Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, IHOP, King Abdullah University of Science
and Technology, Transamerica, and Mattel Toys. I’ve written about semi-conductors, cosmetics, retirement planning, food prep,
and an ear-piercing gun. Wrote for CEOs and directed Little Richard and Pierce Brosnan for testimonials and book-length
submissions to secure clients a perch on Forbes’s annual list of “100 Best Companies to Work For.”
Along the way I discovered there was a field – Themed Entertainment – I was already working in without knowing,
having teamed with Pennsylvania Historical Society in reimagining their permanent collection, written videos
about octopi, plankton, and sea jellies for the Aquarium of the Pacific, and conceptualized and written for numerous
live corporate and civic events.
Soon I was writing for Universal developing early concept work for its Beijing Park, narratives for rides and attractions for
a Chinese company’s ambitious plans for multiple new theme parks, master plans for corporate park
anchored by a science center and a futuristic city with the world’s largest geodesic dome for a Korean developer,
and researching and writing a coffee table anniversary book for a major U.S. design and fabrication company
for theme parks, museums, and stage work.
I wrote speeches for an actor dressed as William Penn and the mayor of Philadelphia, acted out a water-based
stunt show through an interpreter, and contributed to the master plan for an Americana theme park.
